Regardless of the field, every Scientist has those in their lab. And possibly one of those circular discs from Spencer's Gifts that has the light-up green electric crackle on it, like the one that was in Seven of Nine's regeneration thing.Tom Fosshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13796424725228769265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13030925.post-40423958016449782582008-09-22T08:20:00.000-05:002008-09-22T08:20:00.000-05:00I think most woos (and lots of people in general) ...I think most woos (and lots of people in general) have some strange idea of what Science (big "S") is. I don't know how they think of it, but I get the feeling it involves antisocial dweebs, pristine lab coats, ivory towers, and probably the building of inventions.

What they just don't understand (and some don't seem to want to) is that science is no more and no less than an attempt, using the most reliable methods possible, to describe and account for things that happen in the world. That's it. Observation and experimentation lead us to tentative conclusions about how the universe (and everything in it) works.

So if it is in the universe, it is subject to science. How we get this point across I'm not sure. People seem to think that "Science" is just poindexters and innovative engineering.Donhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06661441668625677468noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13030925.post-86953879627829387902008-09-22T06:10:00.000-05:002008-09-22T06:10:00.000-05:00Woos also sometimes point you to testimonials. When a woo says that their flavour of wooism can't be tested with science it is the same as admitting that their woo doesn't work.

Yet when you ask them how they know it works if it can't be measured or tested in any way, they respond with vapid answers like "I just know", or "it's obvious".Flithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13743175208438807258noreply@blogger.com
