The Dave Mabus Thread

Since I saw a few spammers on other blogs, I decided what the heck: Dave Mabus, if you're going to spam my blog, spam here. If, for example, you want to claim Randi owes you the million, try posting a copy of your application. If you want to thumb your nose at PZ and "the atheist movement," how about you stay and discuss the philosophy, rather than post links to a non-discussion area?

You should note that I've never deleted your spam, and only repeatedly invited you for discussion, which you've shied away from. It's far more amusing to laugh at desperation than it is to delete the annoyance. That's why an even formerly "banned" troll like WoMI still had lots and lots of comments after I "banned" him: When he wasn't flooding with copy-paste insults that made my browser worry he set up an infinite loop, he was just too hilarious to delete. Of course, if you actually have something cogent to say, you shouldn't care whether we laugh at you or not.

What's he going to troll about, now, I wonder? He can't co about screaming that "they" shut down the million-dollar challenge because Phil Plait announced at TAM7 that they decided to keep it going.

I guess he'll just call PZ a monkey over and over again now.

"Turns out David Mabus is actually Dennis Markuze, a Nostradummy from Canada who's greatest "contribution" to the prophecy movement is a weird claim that Nostradamus predicted the coming of Depeche Mode and, through this, the World Trade Center attacks."

Trying to get some sense from this crazy individual should be entertaining!

He's never actually going to show up where he's invited - that would take all the fun out of being a moronic bridge-dwelling troll.

Ah, that's good news. Somehow I missed out on the challenge continuing. That makes it all the funnier with the egg on his face.

As for the unlikelihood that he'll show up, well, might as well try.

nothing ventured nothing gained. It would be really amusing to see the crazy Depeche Mode lovin' Nostradumass quoting bufoon ranting on the Bronze Blog.

I'm relying on his common decency. So far, it hasn't surfaced, but I'm sure it exists.

Hmmm... I see no evidence for that hypothesis. ;)

Dunc, you'll just have to take it on faith...

I get emails from him pretty frequently. Some weeks 2 or 3, some just 1.

Always chock full of dumbfuckery and insanity.

Why can't you get someone less nutjob than Mabus, but just as out of reality, to debate with?
Rhawn Joseph, apparently a neurologist, has tried to pass off his panspermia theories as scientific by putting out a phoney "peer reviewed" paper on the net. From the sycophantic style of his biography he either has someone blinded to his pseudoscience, or he himself is a narcissistic personality. Take a look:
"In 1997, Dr. Joseph introduced a new astrobiological theory as to the origin and metamorphosis of life on this planet, and in 2000 he published his revolutionary, ground breaking book, "Astrobiology, the Origin of Life, and the Death of Darwinism" --a text which sent shock waves through the scientific establishment. In this text, Joseph challenged prevailing scientific dogma, including the theory of the "big bang," Darwin's theory of evolution, and the mystical notion of the organic soup."

Shockwaves? Where? This guy doesn't know how insignificant he is when it comes to the real sciences of cosmology and abiogenesis.
From the stuff I've read on the net he is also a bit of a bully:

So how about this egomaniac as a candidate to debate?

But... but the theory of evolution has nothing to do with... ugh...

(Also, Darwin was already dead by then.)

I mean, we're looking at not understanding what evolution is, pushing the origin of life 'back a level', and somehow addressing the big bang, abiogenesis, and evolution, all at once. Yeah, he looks pretty 'impressive'.

Thanks for the suggestion, Shadowjack. I may have a look at the guy.

looks like Mabus/Markuze is going into frothing meltdown. He has sent threatening e mails to PZ Myers and others recently. Lets hope that the authorities in Montreal have a nice secure psychiatric unit for this woo merchant with a chip on his shoulder.
