55th Skeptics' Circle

It's up at the Second Sight.

Open thread as usual, except speculation on the idea that there may be a number lonelier than 1 is FORBIDDEN!

Throw away your dogmatic belief that no number can be lonelier than 1.

0 is the lonliest number. It can't even keep itself company.

I guess it can't be the square root of -1, because it lives with god, vishnu, thor, odin et al.

I like to think that i is 1's only friend, his imaginary friend. Since he's an orphan and has no siblings, he tries to hang out with the primes since he's their other factor, but they're a pretty tight clique and they don't need 1 crashing their parties and telling his long, boring stories.

Then you have pi and e and the square root of 2 all sitting around in their tin-foil hats discussing Sylvia Browne and faith healing. 1 Doesn't want anything to do with them.

Has anyone else seen the RBS adverts playing on TV now? Skepticism in action?
