Pointless Question #39

Why is it that every once in a while someone on your teen superhero team starts acting out of character, gets addicted to something, and recovers by the end of the latest themed crime spree?

The same laws that allow them speedy reincarnation into the same form, perhaps mere months after death, also speed addiction and recovery.

Alternatively, they're addicted to death and resurrection, and all "other" addictions are simply sublimated forms of the main one.

Ninjas. Tiny nano-ninjas removing all the molecules of drug and fixing the addiction.

I think you're on a bigger ninja kick than I usually am, KoF.

I dunno, at least the most famous example of the teen superhero drug addiction ("My ward Speedy is a junkie!") has been a lasting change to the character and gets referenced fairly frequently.

Mostly the question's about the Saturday morning cartoon sort of thing, rather than what happened when comic books started getting more serious.
