Bloggin' in Beta... Whether I Like it or Not

Well, I was forcefully upgraded. Oh well. At least I'll have a few new options to try out, like that "Metablogging" label. Hope that works out into easy-click categories. Even if it means going back to applying them to my earlier posts. Guess I'll find out all sorts of new tricks. And annoying hassles.

I found the upgrade relatively painless. I did have to go through and apply the labels, but if you go to the 300 posts a page view it makes it easier...

Your RSS feed is now seriously messed up! ALL posts are now showing in my reader with today's date.

Not that it wasn't nice to see some of Ryan's old posts again.

Well, I've labeled just about everything. Have fun navigating.

Sorry to inconvenience you, Skeptico (and probably many others): It was easier to update each post with labels, rather than fidget with the big 300 posts/page, being careful to deselect stuff each time.

And I have no idea how RSS works. Got it on my PSP and I've never figured out how to even get started.

Yeeeahh, that was my bad. I was trying to see what the fuss was about since everyone told me beta was awesome. Next thing I know I can't do anything...I had some bloggin' to do too, now that our work computers decide 50% of the time to allow blogs...

Sorry, I didn't have a chance to tell ya BDog.

Well, we're here now. Might as well dinker around this weekend. You know, for curiosity's sake. It's not like I'm going to revamp this into the Bronze Blog.

I'd prefer you did, that way I can live out my dream of setting up a Quasi-Evil Blog to post more personal articles; I don't think many readers are concerned w/ what Labeled is doing...

I'll try and help you find a good format, but maybe some readers can help you w/ the name change.

That Beta thing was a straight up accident, sorry man. Not enough coffee yesterday morning and too much beer the night before...

Great. Now I can't pretend to be an evil plotting usurper anymore.

One thing that you might want to try is a transfer of ownership: It's still technically your blog, and I'm just a team member with admin privileges.

I'm fine with the Beta thus far: It's just that lately, with most of the software I can upgrade, upgrading is a bad thing.

Oh, yeah - I had forgotten that. Beta has some kind of glitch with some RSS feeds that meant around 50 posts got sent out again. It's a one time thing, though.

BDog:

Try this: go to permissions and click on admin under my name. Hopefully you can remove it.

Otherwise, I was reading that the initial name attached to the account will forever be there. But you should have access to the name and address of this blog.

Bronze Dog said...

Nope: Can't do anything to you. Maybe you should mail the guys running the place to ask for help.

Wow. I had to upgrade to beta just to continue commenting here. For some reason it would not longer sign in my Blogger account, and when I used my Google account, it would only post my real name, which I avoid using like the plague. Damned thing. I hope this doesn't suck.

Here's the response:

Dear rockstarryan@gmail.com:

Go shove it up your ass. Thank you, blogger.com.

Are you able to change the name, template and web address? If not, lemme know what you want it to read. I'm not going to be able to remove my name for some stupid reason, but I will set up shop somewhere's else.

You deserve the credit for where this blog went; I have other quasi-evil plans.

While we're all metablogging, I thought I'd just say that if things are going to be changing around here, in my humble opinion, the slogans should stay. Of course, I mean:

"No, we don't. Do you believe in Gosh?

And:

"Trust Us - They Deserve to Feel Stupid"

Priceless.
