This is Just Ducky.

Well, I'm working on one of my projects. And all of my computers are getting annoying. My laptop suddenly cuts off, and when it restarts, neither of my USB ports work. Bye-bye to my trackball. So, it's either work on Adobe Illustrator on my desktop, or try it with the ultra-annoying touch pad thingy I've avoided for so long. Obviously, I go for the desktop. I try to register my Adobe stuff on there, and the automated registration is brickwalling me. Trying to get into my account, and apparently in Adobeland, "a few minutes" amounts to about half an hour now. Of course, I'm using my private email that apparently slices and dices all the spam out there, so it may be taking longer than Adobe anticipates.

Of course, I'm a freak because I don't get a whole lot of spam. Over the weekend: 5 (auto-dumped by Gmail) spam mails, not counting spam comments over here where there was a spike of about 6.

So, what's annoying you in the world?

EDIT: Mechalith and I have thus far confirmed the hypothesis that my USB ports are physically fried, short of cracking my laptop open.

I have two abcesses, some bone infection, several cavities, and my wisdom teeth to take care of. And a psychologist appointment Thursday.

So my health, both body and mind, sucks.

I have a cat with kidney problems; the vet wants to run tests costing over $400.00; and I don't have the funds.

Well, you asked for it, so: people who blog in brown text on a black background. Some days I have to highlight a post with the mouse just to read it.

I like the content of your blog, but the style sheet, argh.

You'll probably be glad to know I've got a template change on my schedule, then. Thinking a dark, dark brown background, though I'm not sure what text color I'd use over that. Remember that I'm going to be going with a "Bronze Blog" theme.

People who keep sending me these blasted emails that waste my time by having to open them to read some insane drivel. The lastest?...

I am Sponge Bob
Everyone has a personality of a cartoon character. Have you ever askedyourself what cartoon character do you most resemble?

No, I haven't. For crying out loud, I'm Berlezebub!! I'm comfortable enough with who I am that I don't need for some astrology-like scoring system to make me feel like I'm some warm and cuddly 2 dimensional character that no one will talk about in five years.

*whew* Thanks for the chance to rant, BD. That felt good.

PS. Oh, and another one. People with bad eyesight complaining about the text/background combination of someone's blog, that I have no problems reading. (Just kidding, Chris. ;-) )

People keep having problems, and I keep having to help them! What gives? Nobody told me about this when I signed up to do tech support!

Oh, wait...

My mucus membranes, and as you know, my laptop does pretty much the same thing every now and then. I'm just glad that I get paid to be sick, and my laptop is currently running smoothly.

And no, I'm not going to knock on wood.

Humans. The world would be so much better without them.

Damn, still knurd. I really shouldn't drink so much Klatchian Coffee, though it really does help my skepticism.

How in the hell do you get away with such a small volume of spam? Gmail dumps probably close to a thousand for me every week.

Any idea why Adobe is giving you trouble? Their licensing is generally of the "one user; two computer" type and I've never had any issues switching. The only really shitty time was the idiot at work who put in my order for InDesign CS2 and specified electronic delivery. That took damn near eight hours to download, and that was on a weekend while server traffic was low and using a T-1 line. Thank the FSM my IT guy burned me a hard copy of the program so I won't have to go through that again...

I don't know why I'm not a spam target. Guess not posting that many direct links to my email helps.

Did end up doing some switching around, though, which probably helped: I've got a super-private email addy that's filtered for about 45 minutes before it arrives in my inbox. (Probably get a lot of eBay-related spam that is summarily hanged before getting to me) Don't know why my gmail doesn't get around, though: I use it for all the forums, corporate stuff, etcetera.

Maybe I should apply for the million.

Speaking of annoyances: Weapon's shown up at the usual spot again. New angle of argumentation: Nuclear physics is contaminated by evolution to make things look older than they are. He doesn't seem to realize that such a thing would mean that NASA's deep space RTG-powered probes don't work. Or that they work, but only because NASA got lucky. He'd better tell them.

Oh, and on Adobe, I think I can blame my dad, now.

Direct links... yeah. I only have a few on the blog, but the spambots seem to like visiting Usenet, and since I use my Google account to post to newsgroups I guess you could say my gmail addy is all over the place. Being registered on a few different poker sites probably doesn't help either.

It's alright though... only about three per week actually make it to the inbox. For your comment spam, you seem to pick up more per week than I do in a year. You might want to enable the word verification thing. It does work pretty well.

Blaming Adobe on dad? He must have used up the second registration to put your stuff on his machine. It used to not be a problem, but since the registration code is embedded in the software now it makes passing copies around a little more tricky. Good thing my IT guy left the direct program transfer software on my laptop when he switched me away from the desktop. The software never knows the difference when I connect to another computer and transfer stuff, so long as the original registration code is there...

But you didn't hear that from me.

Well, of course! It's all part of the Evil Atheist Conspiracy (TM) after all. Even those "Christian" Darwinists are in on it (though they're really Christo-Pagans, not true Christians)

If you need help with Adobe install I can probably help. There are "Ways" around it..

Might be able to help you with the USB port thing BD. As far as Adobe goes, I'd call their activation guys and see if they can unstick it.

Do the USB ports reject /all/ devices, or just the trackball? If it's the latter toss me a line and I can probably help out. (myname at gmail.com)
