It's not as short and sweet as most other snippy quotes, but it was left by commenter Gadren at Bad Astronomy. Touches on a few points I did a while back, though at a different angle.I think pure research is important. Just because we don't know what benefits might arise from gaining the knowledge doesn't mean there will never be any.
